About the Club
Edgworth Cricket Club is a thriving, ambitious club competing in the Greater Manchester Cricket League with four mixed senior teams, a dedicated women's team, and a strong pathway of over ten mixed junior teams. We are investing significantly in our coaching infrastructure with the launch of a brand-new indoor 3-lane net facility, featuring state-of-the-art equipment and AI-powered ball and performance tracking software — putting Edgworth at the forefront of grassroots and pathway cricket coaching in the region.
This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious coach to build a genuine year-round programme, working with players from junior pathway level through to first-team seniors, using facilities and technology usually reserved for professional academies.
This role would suit an ex-professional cricketer transitioning into coaching, or an experienced coach with a strong track record across both junior and senior cricket, looking for a full-time, year-round position with real scope to build a programme from the ground up.
The Role
We are seeking a passionate, qualified, and driven Head Coach to lead coaching delivery across the club on a full-time, 12-month basis — covering both the winter (indoor, facility-based) and summer (outdoor, match) seasons.
You will be the lead coaching voice of the club, responsible for raising standards across all age groups and shaping a modern, data-informed coaching programme built around our new indoor facility.
Key Responsibilities
-
Senior coaching: Deliver coaching across our four mixed senior teams, working with team captains and the cricket committee to align coaching with match performance and team needs
-
Midweek 1-2-1 coaching: Deliver bespoke, individualised technical coaching sessions for senior players and junior players using the AI tracking software to inform development plans
-
Junior coaching: Lead Friday evening group coaching sessions across our junior section (10+ mixed teams), building a clear, age-appropriate player pathway
-
Academy-style coaching: Identify and provide tailored, high-performance coaching for our most talented players (junior and senior) through a bespoke academy programme
-
Women's cricket: Support and develop coaching provision for our women's team
-
Programme development: Design and evolve a year-round coaching curriculum spanning winter indoor training and summer match-season support
-
Talent pathway: Work with team captains, the junior section, and the club committee to build clear progression pathways from junior through to first-team cricket
-
Data & technology: Use AI tracking software/analytics to inform individual player development plans and track progress over time
-
Club representation: Act as an ambassador for Edgworth CC, engaging with players, parents, volunteers, and the wider club community
What We're Looking For
-
ECB Level 2 coaching qualification is essential (minimum requirement — candidates without this will not be considered; Level 3 an advantage but experience will carry more weight than qualification level alone)
-
Demonstrable coaching experience is the priority for this role — a strong track record coaching across a range of ages and abilities matters more than qualifications on paper, and candidates with proven academy/elite pathway coaching experience will be prioritised
-
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
-
Confident using (or keen to learn) technology and data/video analysis tools to support coaching
-
Strong communication and relationship-building skills — with players, parents, captains, and volunteers
-
Self-motivated and able to manage a varied, year-round workload independently
-
Experience working within a club or league structure (e.g. ECB, league, or county pathway) is desirable
-
A genuine passion for developing players at every level, from grassroots juniors to competitive senior cricketers
What We Offer
-
A brand-new, purpose-built indoor 3-lane facility with cutting-edge AI tracking technology
-
A rare full-time, permanent year round contract in club cricket — stability and security across summer and winter
-
The opportunity to shape a coaching programme from the ground up
-
A supportive, ambitious club committee invested in coaching and facility development
-
Access to a large playing base: 4 senior teams, a women's team, and 10+ junior teams
