The club has heavily invested in improving our facilities for members and the local community. We have brand new changing rooms upstairs with a viewing balcony for cricket players. Downstairs, we have increased the size of both the function room and the members room with brand new furniture and carpets throughout.
A brand new bar has been fitted with 5 draught lagers, 2 ciders, Guinness and 4 cask bitters. We also have 50+ spirits and an extensive wine menu. Our most recent cask marque inspection received full marks so you can be sure the quality of drinks we dispense is perfect every time. We have invested in new cellar technology called 'Carlsberg CQDS' which super chills the lagers from cask to keg.
We have plenty of weekly social events throughout the year, from Poker & Pool to ladies darts and food nights. We also have events such as Cheese & Wine evenings, Hog Roasts, Beer & Gin Festivals Curry & Comedian nights! To keep up to date, please join our email newsletter by clicking here.
We have 6 HD TVs in the club which make it a perfect venue to watch live sport from BT Sport and Sky.
The summer of 2020 is eagerly anticipated at the club, with 4 senior teams playing competitive cricket on Saturdays and Sundays. Our 1st XI are in the GMCL Premier 2 league.
We are proud to have hosted the GMCL vs MCC fixture last summer, which was a huge success in raising the profile of the club. Lancashire junior teams were also a regular feature on the ground.
Throughout the summer a series of mid-weekly fixtures is organised and played by the "Taverners Eleven", a section of enthusiasts forming an integral part of the club. A competitive spirit is maintained throughout, always recognizing enjoyment of the game as it is intended and finding a full programme with some away fixtures, invariably producing a full and entertaining day for all involved. The Taverners ‘Edgworth Ashes’ competition also provides a great day of cricket, BBQs and fun for all the family.
The development of ‘junior cricket’ has been very much at the forefront of everyone involved at the cricket club with parents, coaches and the kids driving this forward. Teams from all age groups have been fielded from All Stars, U9's through to U18's.
