Development Plans
The club is delighted to announce construction has commenced on the new indoor net building. The main contractor is A.C.T. - a local building company from Chapeltown.
The new building will include a three lane indoor net facility, score-box room, scoreboard, and storage for ground machinery. There will also be a separate raised viewing platform with storage underneath for the roll-on covers.
This is an exciting development for the club with huge benefits to our cricket section meaning our cricketers can train all year round without worrying about the weather! It will represent a huge improvement in sporting facilities for the local community.
The groundwork company J Pugh-Lewis will be back in the new year to install the remaining drains and roll the outfield. We anticipate areas will require turfing but the grass has taken well in the top corner of the field. The large amount of sitting water on the field recently was partly caused by a burst spring at the top of the ground. This has now been fixed. Whilst we can play the first few matches away from home at alternative grounds, we will make sure there is cricket back at Edgworth in May.
Our thanks and appreciation go to The Jolly Foundation, founded by John and Sally Roberts, for funding the project and their continuing support of the Club.
Solar Panels
Solar panels have now been installed on the south facing clubhouse roofs. A massive thank you to Vital Energi for generously funding the whole project, and to The Solar Storage Co for the smooth installation.
Apart from the obvious environmental benefits, the significant energy cost savings will allow us to reinvest in community activities and further promote sports and recreation in the village.
