Update from the Chairman: 18th April 2020

I hope you are keeping safe and well. Here’s a quick update from ECRC.

I’m delighted to tell you that the number of members who have signed up online since my letter of 26th March stands at 215, including 36 new members, and 28 players from the senior and taverners teams. This has resulted in payments of approaching £6,000 coming into the club. Many thanks to all who have taken the time to do this. Any of you who haven’t yet doneso, please could you take two minutes to sign up. It really helps the club during these difficult times: https://www.edgworthcc.co.uk/support-us

There has been several loads of road planings that Dave Lea had kindly arranged to be delivered. This will be used to improve the condition of the car park so it can be safely used when we re-open.Work to complete the groundworks on the run up to the fixed nets will also be undertaken soon, but will not be available for use until Government advice changes.

We will ensure that both of these works will be undertaken in line with Government safety guidelines.

The club has applied for Government assistance regarding the Business Support Grant Funding and next week will apply under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. An application for support from Sport England will be submitted shortly.

The Committee will be having its first Zoom monthly meeting next week.

And finally, here is an extract of the minutes from the GMCL Board meeting that took place on Thursday regarding Restarting Cricket Plans:

Discussed “planning for late start” document created. Felt that an early June start was now unlikely.

During May, plan to go to clubs with questions and “what ifs” suggesting if fixtures started on Date X, (in July) what teams they would wish to enter.

Idea for cups to be swapped for “T20 Days” where clubs host multiple games.

Items to consider will be restrictions on crowd numbers as well as bar openings and any social interactions. Thought surrounding the “club” element of operations to be considered, as well of the playing of cricket.

So, on behalf of the Committee, stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you back to the club once we re-open.
