| Tom Liversedge, Age 22, Right Hand Batsman, Right
Arm Medium Pace Tom is now firmly established as a key
member of the Edgworth team, and made an excellent
contribution in 2008 in his first year as an opening
batsman. Technically correct with a good temperament,
Tom belongs to the old school of opening batsmen,
wearing bowlers down and accumulating, rather than
bludgeoning runs. With over 600 runs he was top scorer
at the club last season, and his opening partnership
with Jon Mills was one of the big success stories of the
season. His bowling was not used as much as it might
have been last season, but there is no doubt that he has
a big part to play with the ball in the absence of Tahir
Maqsood. He is capable of sharp movement and bounce
from a high action, and has enjoyed considerable success
with the ball this winter where he played cricket for
Burwood Briars in Sydney. Tom is a complete all-rounder
– a very good catcher and groundfielder to go with his
batting and bowling. Should he kick on from last
season, inter-league cricket beckons in 2009.
